Our schedules have been all sorts of crazy for the last couple of months, and mine is about to get even crazier, so when I realized that all four of us were going to have an entire weekend without any obligations whatsoever, I crossed it off on the calendar and set out to plan something fun for all of us to enjoy together. We've all been eagerly awaiting the release of the movie Everest, and knew we wanted to see it on the biggest screen possible, and with fall approaching up north, I thought it might be nice to spend the weekend in Flagstaff.
We left relatively early and drove up, getting in a little shopping and lunch. Then we made our way to the Snowbowl where I'd picked up some discounted Scenic Chair Lift tickets. The colors were just starting to change, but the sun was hot and it was beautiful outside.
Next up, we headed down the road a ways until we got to a dirt road that leads to the Lava River Tube Cave...an area that I'd heard about and always wanted to check out. It did not disappoint. Oddly, it was very wet inside, and roughly 35 degrees deep inside, so we all ended up sopping wet by the time we got out!
After exploring for a couple of hours, we went out to our favorite restaurant for dinner and finally, the movie theater. Everybody got home tired and happy...the perfect family day!
