...aaaand we're back to the Sugar Shack. We've made a bit of progress and I'm super excited about it! Brian installed the Pergo floors (I managed to even get the color I wanted on sale!) when we got back from Iceland...I couldn't believe it but didn't want to talk him out of it, so I just left him be and went about unpacking and doing laundry. After about 2 hours, he was all finished and I LOVE THEM!!! It makes such a huge difference and I really feel like we're close to being done!
We also did a little thrift shop/antiquing in Camp Verde and found some goodies! I found an old wooden armchair for $35, a smaller accent chair with a leather seat and back and all studs in tact for $10, a tiny little footstool with studs for $10, and some random things that I needed like a sauce pan, fry pan, crockery bowls, trivet, and cutting board. There were so many good things at the first store that I wanted to wait on until I knew for sure that they'd work and fit, but I think another visit is in my near future! The garage has also been in the process of renovation, so as it moves along, I have more access to my stuff, i.e. dishes and wine glasses and a few picture frames and things that I've had for years and will just use in the Sugar Shack to save money.
The last week has been a little hectic...weird schedules, lots of overtime, and the flu kind of messed us up, but didn't slow us down by much. The weather has been unbelievable, and I'm dying to get back into my routine of walking to work and home and hiking every chance I have, but I just have to buckle down and be disciplined. I figure that I'm still enjoying the weather and being active (even though I've had the flu for the last week), so it's not so bad.
Brian built the platform for the bed and got water running, but not without having to repair the hose that a rat had chewed through in multiple spots :( I finally got the new seal for the fridge and got it all installed and ready to go. I finished installing all of the trim and am in the process of painting it and touching up the rest of the trailer. I still have to figure out cabinet doors for a couple of spots, and that will make a big difference. Getting those big projects done means that I can get all of the tools and screws and compressor and vacuum and garbage out and start to get it all tidied up! I also started bringing in dishes and furniture to kind of figure out how I want to lay everything out and make sure I can get it all to fit. I'm hoping that Brian will be on board to build the deck next weekend and then I'll be comfortable mopping the floor, dusting everything, and putting in the rug, mattress, and linens. Once it's all staged, I can take pictures for Airbnb and start taking reservations starting March 1st!
