As much as I hated leaving Picos de Europas, we were headed to different mountains with sunshine in the forecast, so I was excited to explore somewhere new. We made our way to the coast and then turned north, ending up in Bilbao for the night. Along the way, we stopped in Comillas to walk around, shop, and eat lunch. It was right around this time that I realized that I'd been using shampoo instead of lotion to moisturize my face each night and morning. The bottles looked very similar when I was packing and I just hadn't noticed. Anyway, by day 3, my face was literally so tight and dry...I kept asking Brian if I'd gotten sunburned or windburned because my face hurt, but couldn't figure it out. My skin just started peeling off in sheets...it was awful. So that explains the lack of selfies at this point. Oh well, it's a story to tell I suppose.

The Mountains Were Calling - Northern Spain Road Trip - Comillas, Bilbao, and Pyranees
The Hydrangeas were HUGE
From there, we drove to Bilbao, checked in our hotel for the night, and set out on foot in the rain to explore the city and check out the Guggenheim museum. Outside, we were greeted by a massive floral puppy and "The Matter of Time" exhibit was really fun to explore.
The next morning, we continued north to the border and crossed into France. We could see the Pyrenees off to our right as we drove through rolling hills of farmland. Along the way, we passed through dozens of little towns and did some antiquing. We finally made it to Lourdes...just as everything was closing up for the evening.
