I had initially planned a trip to Zion National Park for this weekend...I've been dying to hike Angel's Landing among other trails, but the thought of packing up, driving 5 hours there, sleeping in my car, hiking for 2 days, and then driving 5 hours home by myself just didn't appeal to me for some reason this morning. So I decided to do a little exploring around here instead. Now that I've got a 4x4, I was eager to check out some of the rough dirt roads that I've had to bypass all of these years in my little car and I figured I'd take my bike along just in case I found any great spots to ride while I was out and about, so I grabbed a green tea shake and a slice of coffee cake and headed out.
I ended up turning off onto some random Forest Service road that came directly off of 89A. I had no idea where I was going, but it looked like fun so I gave it a whirl.
The view through my filthy windshield which was spotless when I left, let me assure you |
I continued on, winding down side roads and riding various trails that I stumbled upon. The further I went, the prettier it got.
Eventually, I stumbled upon this sign and just had to continue on to the Palatki Ruins that I'd never even heard of before. After all, it was only a mile and a half away! Why not? (Prepare for Picture Overload :) )
I stuck around and explored for a while, grabbed myself my mandatory massive Coke Zero from Circle K and came home to crash. Such a great day!
