I've always said that you know it's been a good weekend when your hair is a little bit lighter, your skin is a little bit darker, and you're covered in bruises and freckles. That must mean that my last few days off were pretty dang perfect.
Soundtrack of the Day:
I started out by packing my car to the brim:
...and had my trusty Misty Mate by my side
A friend and I went for a ride a couple of nights ago, so we found some new trails to ride super close to my house that I cannot get enough of. The next morning I woke up early and brought my camera:
There's no feeling quite like going for a dip in pristine waters after sweating your guts out and then taking a nap in a lounge chair under an umbrella...I can't get enough of it :) So, after my ride, I grabbed a green tea shake and soaked in the pool for a couple of hours:
...which I followed up with a trip down the river with Nora. We've been making a point to hit the river at least twice a week and so far, so good. We even went this morning after breakfast and it was perfect. Though, as I was attempting to retrieve my kayak from the rack on my car, I lost my balance and all of my weight and the weight of the kayak came crashing down onto the inside corner of the back door via my armpit. You wanna talk bruises...have I got a doozy for you. I'll just add it to my collection. Any way, all was well and we, as always, had the best time.
We quickly realized, however, that we were not alone
They were certainly checking us out, keeping their babies close by, and freaking us out a little too. My philosophy is that, if we don't move or make a sound, they might not see us...ridiculous, I know. But it was VERY windy out and if we didn't paddle, we were actually being pushed upstream. So, we stayed the course and made it out alive. I'd like to add that this was definitely the closest I have ever been to a cow.
The flow was low enough that we both managed to keep upright and dry in our vessels
And there is nothing sweeter than victory!
Oh yeah, and I have a new riding buddy in the evenings that I'm pretty excited about...2 for 2 :) The position of the sun last night was just so beautiful and lit up the landscape perfectly...I almost crashed a couple of times taking these pics. It was just so quiet and peaceful and we saw a couple of rabbits (and a snake of some sort) that were heading out for the night. Luckily, we made it back before it got too terribly dark, but it was after 8 pm I believe.
After all of our craziness lately, I'm ready for a lazy weekend in Phoenix with Sam, so we got a room at a resort with a lazy river and a few different pools and we're just going to veg out and lay out and swim and nap and go out on the town. I'm pretty excited about it. It's strange to have days off when nobody else does, but I kind of love it at the same time.
Until next time, stay thirsty my friends :)
