Digital Diary - June 8-16

Another fabulous week has come and gone...one filled with all of the things I love.

Soundtrack of the Day:

Sam and I went down to Phoenix just to chill out for a couple of days. We got a villa at a resort with a lazy river and water slides and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. It was remarkably cool and humid down there...very different for June. On the last day, it actually drizzled a little bit, so we decided to peruse Living Social and Groupon for a fun activity and settled on going to the zoo. What seemed like a comfortable, overcast day turned into a  steaming sauna of misery before the morning was over...I'll just say it was good for my skin. I don't think I've ever sweat so much in my life. We had a great time though, and I managed to grab a couple of fuzzy (I had to zoom for most of them, so they're not great) pics before my phone died :(
We wandered around for several hours before grabbing a late lunch and heading back home.

After a full work week (Sam had a 20-hour day thrown in there), we made plans to float the river from the White Bridge down to Beasley Flats with friends. We met up for breakfast, loaded up and hit the cool water just as it was approaching 100 degrees. The last time we did this stretch, we took the boys in the inflatable kayaks and it took us 7 hours to complete. This time, we finished up in just shy of 4 hours. We had the best time!
Of course we had play on the rope swing!

I had to take a swing at it too (pun fully intended :) ) if for no other reason than just to cool off, but thankfully Keith couldn't figure out how to operate the camera and my obligatory face-plant goes undocumented :)
There's always a little competition brewing between the two of us :)
Afterwords, we grabbed Mexican take-out, took a shower, soothed ourselves with aloe vera gel, and settled in for a Peaky Blinders marathon. I wish every day was as good :)

Today, I decided to scout out a trail in the Village for mountain biking. Maybe going out when we're in the middle of a heat wave wasn't the smartest thing to do, but I did it and I survived so naysayers can suck it.
I found the perfect spot for a break in the shade :)
Climbing this crumbling mass probably wasn't the smartest thing either, but it gave me some pretty views
In between, I've basically been soaking in the pool for hours on end...foam noodle placed firmly in the nape of my neck so I can doze off while floating and not have to worry about drowning. Yesterday, I even took a nap afterwords when I got home! So, tomorrow, it's back to work for me...I'm hoping to get a couple of good bike rides in there somewhere and some evening walks around the neighborhood, but until next weekend, stay thirsty my friends :)
