Where The Wild Things Are - Southern Italy Road Trip - Sorrento and Herculaneum

After exploring Pompeii and eating lunch, we drove to Sorrento along the coast and enjoyed the beauty of the bay.

Traffic was gradually becoming a bit of a spectacle...the roads were narrowing, scooters and cyclists were becoming more aggressive, and tour busses were becoming more frequent. We found our apartment in Sorrento (a tiny room with a queen bed and a tiny little cot in the corner for Bill, lol). Then he relaxed in the room with some fresh strawberries from a little market downstairs and Brian and I ventured into town.

These works of art all made out of tens of thousands of tiny pieces of wood!

The tiny streets were crawling with tourists and were lined with a million cute little shops and restaurants. We stopped for gelato and banana splits and then went back to the apartment to pick up Bill for more shopping and dinner.

Brian's mom requested a tablecloth as a souvenir from Italy and we found a little shop with handmade linens where Bill bought a tablecloth and napkins for her. Then we stopped for dinner at the cutest little hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

The next morning, we had tickets to visit the ancient site of Herculaneum back near Naples. It was similar to Pompeii.

Then we caught the ferry to Capri for the afternoon!
